Prevues Of Coming ONAR FILMS Attractions!

If you are a fan of weird and obscure non-Hollywood films, you might have heard of a little Greek company called Onar Films! It releases Turkish exploitation fantasy/superhero flicks from the 60's and 70's! At the time of writing this, Onar has released three supercool DVD's: KILINK IN INSTANBUL, KILINK VS SUPERMAN + KILINK STRIP AND KILL (A Double Feature), and 3 DEV ADAM (3 MIGHTY MEN). If you haven't got them already, you should check them out!

A few weeks ago, Worldweird Cinema had an Onar Films Appreciation Week, giving reviews of all their DVD's and more. Then other sites followed up showing their support to Onar. Now, Prevues are also doing it! Although not in the grand scale like WWC ;). But I am gonna give you a little preview of what's coming from Onar in the future. A trailer for their upcoming Aska Susayanlar Seks Ve Cinayet (aka. Thirsty For Love, Sex And Murder):

This film seem to very inspired by the Italian giallo, with lots of hot babes being killed by a razor wielding sadistic and mean maniacal killer. Can't wait to see this! You can check it out here, 14Mb. It is also available on Onars trailersite here, but only as a stream. And who doesn't want it as a glorious low-def .avi?! ;)

So what can we expect from Onar in the future? Well, in a post from Bill Barounis (Mister Onar himself) over at WWC, he gives us these titles:

September 2006, double-bill: ASKA SUSAYANLAR SEKS VE CINAYET( THIRSTY FOR LOVE SEX AND MURDER) & OLULER KONUSMAZ KI (THE DEAD DON'T TALK).

October 2006, double-bill: SUPERMEN DONUYOR (SUPERMAN RETURNS aka. TURKISH SUPERMAN) & DEMIR YUMRUK DEVLER GELIYOR (IRON FIST THE GIANTS ARE COMING).

Christmas 2006, double-bill: TARZAN ISTANBUL'DA & TARZAN KORKUSUZ ADAM.

Check out the trailer for Tarzan Korkusuz Adam (1974). Tarzan sure like to scream!

Early 2007, double-bill: CASUS KIRAN & DEMIR PENCE KORSAN ADAM. (Two superhero-films).

And more superhero-stuff, maybe some Zorro-films (!), and some of the oldest known Turkish films! Check out this one called ORUMCEK (THE SPIDER), looks like it's a good one:

Bill says that "AS LONG AS I GET MY MONEY BACK I WILL RELEASE ALL TURKISH FILMS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SUPERHEROES, HEROES, HORROR, CULT, TRASH AND YOU KNOW WHAT...!" How cool is that? It's supercool's what it is!

Be sure to check out this interview with Bill over at Cinema Strikes Back.

To end it all, here are the Official Onar sites:

Onar Films Official site

Onar at Ebay

Onar trailers at Motion TV (Featuring trailers for all previous releases, and their upcoming ones)

Keep up the excellent work you are doing Bill!!!

Double Double-Bill Sunday!

Updates has been sporadic here at Prevues, so to make up for it, I'll give you a couple of cool double-feature trailers to look at. First up is Sergio Leones A Fistful of Dollars and the sequel For a Few Dollars More. A cool trailer promoting Leones second film about The Man With No Name. Check it out here, 6,48Mb.

The second trailer is for Thriller: A Cruel Picture (Bo Arne Vibenius, 1974), here presented as Hookers Revenge. The second feature is for The House of Whipcord (Pete Walker, 1974), here as The Photographer's Model. The theme of the films is girls taking revenge. I haven't seen Walkers film, but Thriller is pretty cool. It's been released by Synapse Films with all its hardcore porn intact. It's also available without the porn and less extras, but who would want that?!

Check it out here, 9,67Mb.

I found this cool template over at Blogger Templates, and thought that it was perfect for Prevues Of Coming Attractions! And it is! I have also added some links that I like to the left.

I have a plan to start one of those "if you link to my site on yours, I'll put yours on mine"-list, so if you do, let me know.

Hope you like the new and improved site.

Citizen Kane

If you're interested in film, you must have heard of Orson Welles' Citizen Kane. Often refered to as the greatest movie made. Maybe not the best ever, but it is pretty good IMO. The trailer is cool. It's not like your average trailer: It starts with Orson Welles adressing the audience (with a voice-over, we never see him in it), talking about the film. He introduces the actors, when he's finished with that, we get to see charaters talking about Charles Foster Kane, some love him, others doesn't. Then Welles adresses the audience again, and tells us to go see the movie and make up our own mind about Kane.

Check it out here, 13,5Mb.

Clerks

Kevin Smiths Clerks from 1994 is hilarious! Made for about 27,000$US it has became a modern day classic. What's it about? Conveniencestore clerks talking shit for the main part. And it's funny too! Resently (well, more like last year I think) a ten year anniversary 3 disc special edition that is a must-have in all DVD collections were released. If you haven't seen this film, you should do it now! The trailer does of course feature Jay and Silent Bob, who in 2001 got their own movie with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Download trailer here, 5,5Mb.

Also check out the official site for Clerks 2 coming this summer. It has some awsome trailers. You should also check out View Askews homepage, which has links to KS's own store where you can buy signed items/DVD's. Pretty cool!

The Clerks trailers was actualy so popular that in 1998 some Star Wars fans made a parody on it, creating Trooper Clerks. It recreates the Clerks trailer shot by shot. The same people has later made a couple of animated episodes of Trooper Clerks. Check them all out at the official site.

Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me

This has to be one of the coolest teasers EVER! It starts off with heavy breathing, then the voice of Don LaFontaine speaks: Years ago... a battle was fought, and an Empire was destroyed. Now, the Saga will continue. The camera tracks through something that looks like the Emperors quarters from the Star Wars films. A person is sitting in a chair. He turns around and it's Dr. Evil! You were expecting someone else?

There's a cool (little) history behind this teaser (borrowed without permission from Movie Trailer Trash):

Though planned for a summer release ... Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, was not far enough along in production to supply material for a trailer when The Phantom Menace teaser first appeared in theaters. However, at Myers's insistence, New Line green-lighted a special-shoot trailer spoofing both the Phantom Menace teaser and the virtually inexplicable excitement it had generated, rushing the teaser out to theaters a week after the Phantom Menace trailer appeared.

I love this teaser. Check it out here, at 3,66Mb.
